I once bought a modem for an HP-1000 computer with the RTE-IV operating system (this was back in the olden days). The modem did not come with a driver, and would not work without one. HP provided a text file with an example driver written in macro code There was a warranty statement commented in the banner that read something like this: “This example code is intended to help you and is covered exclusively by our Big Boy Warranty. The Big Boy Warranty states: You need to modify this to make it work on your system. If you do so, and it does not work, You Are A Big Boy Now, Fix It Yourself.“
